Weapon Charges

Although it is our 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to bear arms, weapon charges can be quite serious. If you are caught concealing a dangerous weapon, you could be charged with a Class A misdemeanor. If you are found to be in possession, offering to sell, transporting or purchasing a short-barreled shotgun or rifle, you could be criminally charged also with felony crimes as these weapons are not legal in Wisconsin. 

Not only will you be charged with a Class A misdemeanor if found carrying a concealed weapon, but you can face up to 9 months in jail and a $10,000 fine. A conviction on this type of charge can have significant consequences on your future. Related weapon charges include possession of a firearm while intoxicated. Miscellaneous weapons intended to disable people or destroy property, aside from pepper spray, are illegal to possess with a punishment of a Class A misdemeanor and Class D forfeiture. Those with a previous felony conviction are not permitted to possess or carry a firearm at all in Wisconsin.
